Cosmetic Therapy (Electrolysis) Program

We are pleased to offer the Ohio State Medical Board approved Cosmetic Therapy (Electrolysis) program at Lorain County Community College’s Elyria campus.

This program is the ONLY program offered in the state of Ohio.

The approved program consists of 728 on-campus hours and 25 on-line (ANGEL) hours (1-hour/week for 25 weeks) of instruction over 52 weeks beginning Saturday, February 7, 2009 and ending Sunday, March 7, 2010.  Internet access is required (computer labs also available on campus) to register for this program.  Program instruction will be delivered on Saturdays and Sundays in three modules.     

Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (7.0 hours of instruction and ½ hour for lunch) and Sundays, 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (7.0 hours of instruction and ½ hour for lunch) 

Course Fee:  $3,000 per Module ($9,000 total - includes Preliminary Education fee, syllabus and electrologist starter kit).   

To Be Purchased by Student:  Textbooks (approx. $200)

 Students are required to have American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider certification and medical requirements completed before clinic start day (tentatively August 15, 2009).

 All lecture and clinical components of the program will be delivered on the Elyria campus.  Attendance and completion of all module assignments is mandatory to be eligible for state licensure.

Program Description

The program will prepare students to function as electrologists.  The electrologist is a highly skilled professional qualified in permanent hair removal.  Upon program completion, students will be eligible to take the Ohio State Medical Board examination (examination fee and fingerprinting fee paid by student) for Cosmetic Therapy licensure.

A minimum number of registered students are required for the program to begin as scheduled.  There is also a maximum number of accepted students.
